Rhos-on-Sea is known for the oldest permanent puppet theater in Britain, Harlequin Puppet Theatre.The temperate maritime climate of the British Isles brings cold summers and mild winters. Moreover the Foehn winds are warm and dry in their descent from the mountains south so it's no surprise that the area holds the Welsh high temperature record for February at 18.7°C on 23 February 2012.

The Great Orme is a peninsula made mostly of limestone and dolomite. Most of the rocks are between 339 and 326 million years old:
Much of the great Orme is covered in limestone grassland. Many plants thrive in the thin soils, growing close the the ground to stay sheltered from the harsh weather:

After the Glyndŵr Rising, 1400-1415 (last major Welsh opposition before the incorporation of Wales into England by the Laws in Wales Acts 1535 and 1542 ) the villagers of the peninsula were harshly taxed and by 1507 they had nearly all fled their homes. Henceforth the cultivated land lay fallow and is now grazed by sheep and goats.

The headland is home to about 200 wild Kashmir goats descended from a pair of goats gifted by the Shah of Persia to Queen Victoria shortly after her coronation in 1837.
Good to know: Nanny goats leave their kids while they graze, returning regularly to feed them. Many people think the kids are abandoned and try to save them. Keep in mind that the nanny will not accept back her human-smelling kid. Even if taken into care by the R.S.P.C.A. the kids are difficult to feed and more often than not they do not survive.
